What does "tiramisù" mean?

TIRAMISÙ is surely Italy’s most well-known, most delicious dessert. It is made using ladyfingers dipped in coffee and layered with a whipped mixture of mascarpone cheese, eggs, and sugar. Though it has only appeared in cookery books in the last fifty years, the dessert has been adapted into endless variations.

Due to its caffeine content, tiramisù is both praised for its pick-me-up qualities and also considered an aphrodisiac. Indeed, the name itself can be translated into English as 'PICK ME UP'.
